Mardi Gras Season Is Under Way

The Krewes are making plans and we're arranging music for what is shaping up to be the best Mardi Gras season thus far. In the seven years since Katrina, mardi gras (and the music of mardi gras) has made a slow and steady comeback. For the first time since the storm, we will be fielding a 20 piece orchestra on the Saturday night before Mardi Gras. The theme is set in the early part of the 20th centruy and that calls for big band dance music. It will be a great night. Featured musicians will include Leo Ursini, Denny Leroux, Charles Darius all under the baton of Robert Maxwell. The New Year Begins with JMO - Jimmy Maxwell Orchestra

2012 was a great year and we're happy to have been able to play music for so many wonderful people.

As 2013 begins, it's hard to believe that we're just weeks away from the Superbowl and Mardi Gras with just a week inbetween. So be it! The 12th Night Revelers well start the festivities on January 6th as they roll out the 12th night cake.

We've got corporate events, weddings and our chance to give back with a few charitable galas all in the next few months.

Stand by! It's going to be an excitying year!

    Holiday Break Time

Whether it's Christmas, Hanukkah, or Winter Solstice, December 25th is always a "break" for JMO. A time to gather with family and loved ones, appreicate the love and joy, and make plans for the celebrations ahead. Those plans include Wedding band preparations, new cover band materials (song selections), Mardi Gras, preparations, and all those details which will take us into spring.

But for now, we wish you a very safe, and happy holiday season to you and all of your family.

This sesason starts with the Squires ball prior to Christmas and will continue with The krewe of Twelfth Night on January 6th. Then it's on thru the season with organizations such as The Elves of Oberon, the Krewe of Athenians, Eros, Osiris, Nerieds in Biloxi, Proteus, Rex, Comus and many others. It's Carnival Time - (Well, Almost!)

It'll be Mardi Gras time in New Orleans before you know it and once again we look forward to playing for the krewes that started it all. From "If Ever I Cease To Love" to "The Grand March of Aida" and from "Mardi Gras Mambo", "Iko Iko" and "Brown Eyed Girl" to "All The Single Ladies" and "Forget You" we'll be covering a wide variety of music.

If you've got a favorite, take a moment and post it here; we'll see if we can add that to this year's playlist!

    Happy Mardi Gras!

    Jimmy Maxwell
